Combination number 4 is first introduced as part of a 1st Kyu grading. Combinations are performed by count (shown below) and all the way through (i.e. 1 count all 9 moves).

From basic stance:

  1. Step forward into back stance (No Kokutsu Dachi) with a knife hand block protecting the head (Shutouke Jodan)
  2. Switch legs on the spot, changing  into the opposite back stance (No Kokutsu Dachi) with a knife hand block protecting the head (Shutouke Jodan)
  3. Turn all the way round and step forward into back stance (No Kokutsu Dachi) with a knife hand block protecting the head (Shutouke Jodan)
  4. Step forward into basic stance (Zenkutau Dachi) and perform a vertical spear-hand thrust to the body (Tate Nukite Chudan)
  5. On the spot change into cat stance (Neko Ashi) with an upward block using a arch fist (Koken) to protect the head (Jodan)
  6. Block down using a palm-hand (Shotei) to protect the body (Chudan)
  7. On the spot change into basic stance (Zenkutau Dachi) and perform front punch to the head (Junzuki Jodan)
  8. Step forward into sumo stance (Shiko Dachi) with lower block (Gedan Bari)
  9. Step forward into basic stance (Zenkutau Dachi) and perform front punch to the body (Junzuki Chudan) with a Kiai
